Fully embracing the Steampunk ethos of up-cycling, reusing, and recreating.
The 2026 fashion show requires a significant component of your outfit to have been transformed from items, fabric or a garment and refashioned into something new.
We are looking for adaptations and inspiration. Ball gowns from bedspreads, tailcoats from curtains, duvets into bustles. Your greatest creation from your greatest op shop find, or a neglected wardrobe castoff, saving fabric from landfill along the way. Accessorising with non-fabric elements is strongly encouraged. Wires, gadgets etc Whole garments of non-fabric construction are welcome.
Judging criteria – entries will be judged on the following:
Steampunk aesthetic: i.e. the costume must fit with in the Victorian aesthetic
Transformation: How much of a transformation did the original elements go through.
Originality – Coherence of design – Workmanship
Outfit Prizes will be awarded for:
1st Place Supreme, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, First Time Entrant, Youth Award and the Peoples Choice.
Entry requirements:
We have kept participants involvement as simple as possible to ensure you get to enjoy the rest of the weekend’s activities. We strongly encourage you to register in advance. There may not be available spots on the day.
Entrants need to attend the registration and photo session at the Scottish Hall (The McKenzie Lounge) on Sunday, 31 May 2026 between 10am and 11.00. You MUST be wearing the complete entry you intend to showcase.
Entrants need to be at the Scottish Hall again by 1.pm for the show to start at 2pm. Please enter by the rear of the building to allow the audience access to the front of the hall.
In the interests of fairness there is no facility for any personalistion of music or lighting, and each contestant has a limited amount of time on stage.
